THE RISE PROGRAM IS BUILDING A NEW GENERATION OF EQUITABLE, INCLUSIVE, AND IMPACTFUL LEADERS — LOCALLY AND GLOBALLY.
Rise brings together young women and gender‑marginalized leaders to build skills, confidence, and connections that last. Through shared learning, mentorship, and real‑world experience, Rise helps you grow the tools to lead with purpose in your career, community, and beyond.
You’ll start by building core leadership foundations, then choose your own pathway: Governance (Rise on Boards), Social Impact (Rise for Impact), or Grassroots Organizing (Rise to Organize).
PLEASE NOTE - For this year only the Governance (Rise on Boards) stream is available, the Social Impact stream will be launched in 2027.
You can apply to Rise if you:
Are a young person who experiences gender-based discrimination (we welcome women and gender‑marginalized youth*)
Are between the ages of 18–29
Are excited to grow your leadership skills and connect with like‑minded changemakers
Want to create positive change in your community — and rise for equity, inclusion, and impact
We can’t wait to learn more about you and how you’ll rise with us!
Program Commitment and Disclosure
The Rise program is an approximately 60-hour learning experience, combining live and self-paced training. Participants will take part in 37 hours of asynchronous and live leadership workshops over two intensive weekends (August 7–9 and 14–16), followed by six weeks of asynchronous governance stream training of 10 hours to be completed by the end of September. Because Rise is a global program, live sessions may occur in early mornings or late evenings depending on your time zone. By applying, participants acknowledge that they can prioritize and attend all live workshops.
This year, Rise will focus on the Governance stream (Rise on Boards) — open to participants globally. While training is grounded in the Canadian non-profit governance context, the tools, frameworks, and practices shared are designed to be adaptable across different regions and systems. Participants will explore governance structures, decision-making processes, and accountability systems through both global and local lenses.
Through training, mentorship, and peer support, the program equips participants to find and pursue their own board placements. Fora will also host Board Match events and share board opportunities, helping connect participants to organizations where they can lead, contribute, and create impact.
